Resource Teacher
I was born and raised in Sikeston, MO. I attended Sikeston High School and graduated with the class of 2009. After high school I left for college and headed north to the University of Missouri (Mizzou). I was at Mizzou from 2009-2014. During these years I obtained my undergraduate and masters degree.
In May of 2013, I graduated from the University of Missouri (Mizzou) with a degree in cross categorical special education k-12. I then proceed to continue my education and graduated from Mizzou with my masters in the summer of 2014 in early childhood special education, with an emphasis in autism. I am also certified to grades 1st through 4th.
Majority of my professional development has been geared toward and based on working with students with autism. I have attend courses that introduce the idea of what autism is and have been working on becoming and IDAC (in district autism consultant). During the PD opportunities I am being trained on how to best work with and understand those who malt have autism and in return how I can help fellow teachers and my district.
I began my first year of teaching in August of 2014. I completed my first two years at Southeast Elementary working with students in 1st through 4th grade who have special needs. This year 2017-2018 will be my fourth year teaching and I will continue to work with children who have special needs at Southeast Elementary.
I spend lots of time with my family . I am currently not married and do not ahve children. I do however have a kitten named, Boo!
Hi! My Name is Miss Meghan Bivens! I am 26 years young! I just recently bought my first home and I live here in Sikeston with my kitten Boo! I This will be my 4th year teaching students with special needs at Southeast Elementary. I am excited to make this my best year yet! When I am not teaching I am most likely coaching cheerleading or at a sporting event for Sikeston High School. I am the head Sikeston High School cheer coach and love every minute of it. Majority of my time outside of the classroom goes towards working with the girls or cheering on the Bulldogs! If I am not at cheer I tend to spend my time with family and friends!
