Classroom Discipline

At Southeast Elementary, we use PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support). The purpose of PBIS is to create a positive learning environment where students can learn and grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Lessons are taught in the classroom throughout the school year using the matrix as a guide. Students are expected to be respectful, act responsibly, and stay safe throughout the school, on the playground, and on the bus. When students display these expectations, they are rewarded with Diamond Dollars. Diamond Dollars can be used in the school store to purchase small items such as pencils, erasers, stickers, etc. These items can only be purchased with Diamond Dollars and not real money.

In my classroom,  I also use Class Dojo. Class Dojo promotes a positive classroom environment, gives students a voice by allowing them to add photos of their learning, and it’s a way share the learning that takes place in the classroom with parents. Students earn points and Diamond Dollars for each positive behavior. Students use the Diamond Dollars that they have earned towards items in the school store. Below is more information on Class Dojo and how to sign up.
