I have lived in Sikeston all of my life. After earning a Journalism Degree from Arkansas State University, I started working at the Standard Democrat Newspaper where I was a reporter for 13 years. My mother and my grandmother were both teachers and I apparently inherited the gene because I returned to college and earned my Education Degree in Early Childhood in 2005 from Southeast Missouri State University. In 2008, I graduted from William Woods University with my Masters Degree in Administration and most recently I graduated again from William Woods University with my Specialist Degree in Administration in May 2016.
I started teaching first grade at Southeast Elementary in August 2005 and I have been here ever since. I love watching my first graders learning.
Now retired, my mother was a teacher for 36 years and I grew up watching her get excited about making a difference in children’s lives. Now I totally understand why.
I have been married to my husband, John, since March 13, 2004. We have four, adorable 4-legged children: two dogs, Sebastian and our our newest addition, Ainslee Belle; and two cats, Harper and Hadley. Ainslee has been taking obedience classes since she joined our family in February so she too, is going to school. She is currently enrolled in an advanced class.
When I am not teaching I enjoy reading, shopping and spending time with my husband and five, 4-legged kids.
